This Friday fans old and new will be celebrating the marvellous creations that have come from the imagination of one of the world’s most treasured storytellers – Roald Dahl.

Matilda will be at the heart of the celebrations this year. Matilda is the namesake story of a young girl who was extremely gifted and had to put up with cruel parents and a tyrant headmistress. But throughout this experience she remained true to herself and always bravely spoke up for others.

Matilda is the true mascot of pupil voice; she illustrates that if you are brave and believe that you can change your school and community for the better – you will!

Here are some of our favourite Matilda quotes:

Somewhere inside all of us is the power to change the world.

Having power is not nearly as important as what you choose to do with it.

Never do anything by halves if you want to get away with it. Be outrageous. Go the whole hog. Make sure everything you do is so completely crazy it's unbelievable...

At tootoot we believe that pupil voice is important. Which is why every year we invite schools, youth groups and councils from all over the world to sign-up for free and celebrate Pupil Voice Week.

This year’s theme is ‘Our Voice’, which is all about pupils uniting their voices to make a positive change in the world. With the help of our partners Ditch The Label, Safeguarding Essentials, Kidscape, eAware, TrainingSchoolz, Madlug and Internet Matters we have created a host of free resources specially designed to highlight to pupils the power of their voice, around important topics such as, bullying, cyberbullying and mental health.

Don’t leave just yet… we have created a free Roald Dahl themed primary and secondary resource for your pupils to enjoy on Friday.
