Join us for Pupil Voice Week 2025

After the success of last year’s ‘Every Voice Counts’, with over 600 schools and 320,000 pupils marking the occasion, Pupil Voice Week is back for it’s 10th year, running from the 22nd - 26th September 2025! Find out more below!

What is Pupil Voice Week?

Pupil Voice Week is an initiative started by tootoot. Each year, Pupil Voice Week focuses on the importance of pupil voice - and how important it is that every child feels confident to speak up and be heard.

More than one in ten children have no one to talk to when they’re in school. That’s why we’re giving you the tools to help your pupils understand how powerful their words are - whether they’re asking for help, supporting a friend, or speaking up about what matters to them. Young people should feel confident to use their words in any situation. That’s why we hold Pupil Voice Week every year at the end of September.

What is this year’s Pupil Voice Week theme?

This year’s theme is ‘The Power of Words’ - a celebration of how words can inspire, connect, support and empower. We’ll be exploring how words shape our relationships, affect our mental health, and help us stand up for ourselves and others.

Young people should feel confident using their words to express their thoughts and feelings, to resolve conflict, and to support others. When children understand the value and impact of what they say - whether in person or online - they become more self-aware, compassionate and resilient.

We’ve created a range of resources, assembly plans and classroom activities designed to help children of all ages explore the importance of words and how they can be used positively in their daily lives.

Why pupil voice matters

Promoting an encouraging and supportive culture of speaking up is key to long-term wellbeing and confidence. Here’s why it’s so important:

  • 14% of children and young people never like themselves (Ditch the Label, 2020)

  • 42% have reported experiencing anxiety (Ditch the Label, 2020)

  • 1 in 8 children are currently unhappy in school (Children’s Society, 2022)

  • 32% have said something nasty to someone online (Ditch the Label, 2017)

  • Overall happiness in UK children has declined in the past year (Children’s Society, 2022)

By helping children use their words positively and confidently, we can strengthen their wellbeing - and that of those around them.
