How tootoot helped a pupil access support for their mental health

We recently spoke to a school who shared a story with us about how tootoot had helped them provide additional support to a pupil and her peers. With their permission, we’re sharing their story.

The school was aware that there was a female Year 6 pupil self-harming and the student began telling her peers when she was thinking about self-harming. This was then filtered down throughout the school, making younger students aware of the situation.

"Why do I not have a tootoot account? I am worried about something which I would like to report."

A boy in Year 5, approached his teacher asking "why do I not have a tootoot account? I am worried about something which I would like to report." As soon as the staff member handed him the login details, the student reported the case online, informing her that he was worried about the safety of that particular Year 6 student.

“This early intervention allowed the school to highlight the issue and put in place the appropriate measures.”

This early intervention allowed the school to highlight the issue and put in place the appropriate measures to support the Year 6 student with regards to self-harm before the issue escalated.

Previously, the school had only introduced tootoot to the oldest year group within the school, but due to this situation, the school has decided to roll out tootoot to younger students.
